Arsenal legend Lee Dixon backs Arsene Wenger and his decision making abilities
Former Arsenal defender, Lee Dixon has come to Arsene Wenger’s aid and has stated that the manager is capable of making the more crucial and important decisions at the club. Dixon stated that the manager was doing the right thing in regards to the Samir
Nasri and Cesc Fabregas saga and that the manager had probably thought through his potential options, before acting on them.
Dixon, when talking to the press is quoted to have said: "You're better off getting £60 million for two players who don't want to stay and spending the money wisely.”
"There is no doubt they are top quality players and they will be missed, but it is important that supporters and everyone at the club remembers that the cannon on the chest is more important than anybody."
Dixon seems to have hit the eye of the needle with his comments. The simple fact remains, that no player is bigger than the club. If Fabregas and Nasri both don’t want to play for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, then the team really doesn’t need them.
Wenger and Arsenal are hugely responsible for developing both the midfielders into the players that they are today and  if they still don’t want to be at the club, then they don’t need to.
With the sale of the two midfielders, Wenger is bound to inherit a fee somewhere in the region of sixty million pounds, as mentioned by Dixon. That fee, if added to the current transfer kitty that the Gunners have, is going to make them eligible to sign
almost any player that they set their sights on.
That would have been good news for most clubs, but for Arsenal, irrelevant of how much money they have to spend, Wenger seems to almost always look for the cheaper way out.
The manager seems to be taking that route once again this season, but if the two players are sold, the manager is going to be pushed into making a number of transfers. This could result in either being great for Arsenal, or something that could take the
team down.
Should the manager go in and buy well experienced players, then the Gunners might just be able to go through the season on a high note and end up with some form of silverware. However, if the manager plays the cheap card again, then the Gunners might find
it hard to end the season with a European qualification spot at best.
