Arsenal looking to bring in reinforcements

The fact that Arsenal have been lacking the five centre backs that every team needs, is no secret. The team currently has three quality centre backs and one extra defender to help provide cover for the team, when the first three choices can’t make it to
a match. However despite that fact, Arsenal are still short of at least two or three centre backs that are crucial to the team, if they hope on winning any titles any time soon.
The team has already witnessed their first choice star defender Thomas Vermaelen suffer an injury which has ruled him out for the first half of the season and Laurent Koscielny seems to almost always pick up a red card every couple of games.
As a result the team’s manager Arsene Wenger has started to grow in his concern about the future of the team. The manager has opted to try and lure more quality defenders to the team, instead of putting all his eggs in one basket and hoping for the best.
The latest player that the manager has targeted is Borussia Dortmund’s centre back, Neven Subotic. Wenger is reported to be a long term admirer of the Serbian defender and has reportedly been tracking him for a good portion of the last eighteen months.
The defender is currently only twenty one years old, which adds to his long term prospect at the club. The player has also often been referred to as the ‘New Vidic’ which in itself just goes to show how good the player is. Thanks to Subotic’s brilliant work
at the back, Dortmund have so far managed to concede a mere seven goals in the eleven games that they have played so far.
The player due to his brilliant performances and age is currently being valued at around twenty million pounds by the experts. This price tag might act as a major repellent to Wenger who is known to make shrewd and cheap transfers. On the other hand, the
club’s fans have been expecting a world class/big name signing for quite some time and it is now well known that Arsenal have all the funds in the world to make that move.  For that very reason it would be interesting to see if the manager opts to still go
for a relatively unknown player, over a more well known and established player.
Wenger has in the past almost always struck gold when signing a player who was not very well known and then has managed to turn that player into a well known household name e.g.:-  Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Etc. The fans would be delighted if the manager
repeats the same success with Subotic, but would still strongly be hoping that the manager brings in a more established players who could help provide stability at the back for the team.
Nonetheless it is now going to be a wait till the January transfer window to see, what move the manager finally decides to make, that being said it is almost a sure shot that Wenger will be bringing in at least one or two quality centre backs.
