In one of the more unusual and downright close to impossible transfer rumours, it has been reported that Arsenal are looking to make a shock move for Barcelona's Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano.
The player was signed by Barcelona from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 amidst a lot of speculation and the midfielder going on to throw tantrums claiming that his heart was at Barcelona and that he wouldn't be able to play at his best anywhere else,
ever again. Unfortunately for Mascherano, his story didn't have a happy ending after all. The player, ever since his move to the Camp Nou, has fallen out of favour with manager Pep Guardiola and has hardly seen any field time ever since his move. As a result,
it is now being reported that Arsenal are looking to put the player out of his misery and try and bring him to the Emirates.
However, if Arsene Wenger is to land the player, then he is bound to be ready to face an uphill battle. Arsenal do not have a good track record when it comes to dealing with Barcelona, mainly thanks to one saga involving a certain
Cesc Fabregas, but that's a completely different story in its own.
Nonetheless, looking at the more possible and believable situation at hand, if Arsenal are to make a move for Mascherano then they are probably going to have to offer Barcelona some sort of incentive along with around three-fourths
of the twenty-two million pounds that the Spanish team paid to land the player initially. This is where Denilson, Arsenal's local want-away midfielder steps in. The Brazilian has already tried his best to try and secure a move away from the Emirates, by previously
hinting that he wanted to secure first-team action and when all of those efforts failed, he went on to target the Gunners captain, Fabregas, by stating that he was in simple terms not captain material.
If Wenger can somehow manage to convince Barcelona that Denilson is just the sort of player that they need for their long-term goals, he could potentially come up with a barter that could see Arsenal complete one of the most inexplicable
transfers to ever take place in footballing history.
However, the chances of that happening are slim to none, which is going to make this move all the more interesting to follow over the next fortnight.
