Arsenal looking to reinforce back-line by landing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shay-Given-c33284
Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger, seems to have finally learned from the error of his ways and is now looking to bring in two players, who he feels would help reinforce and boost his back-line.
The two players that the manager is reported to be looking to make a move for are, Manchester City’s out of favour goal keeper, Shay Given, and, Bolton Wanderers defender, Gary Cahill.
It is no secret that Arsenal are in desperate need of landing a decent keeper, who can ensure a sense of stability in between the posts at the Emirates.
At the moment the three permanent keepers that Arsenal have include, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Almunia-c23386.
Now just looking at those three names gives us a very clear picture of the poor state of Arsenal keepers. This is because none of the three keepers are considered world class by any standards and that is something that has often held the team back.
Wenger has been a long term admirer of Given, and, has even made inquiries about the player in the past.
However, a move never really materialized and hence his capture has almost always eluded the team. Nonetheless it now seems as if the team are to sign the player, and could not come at a better time.
This is because not only do the club really need someone like Given amongst their ranks, but the fact that the player has become second-best at the club and spent countless hours on the bench, means that he is going to push for a move out of the club any
way possible – once the season comes to a close.
The next player that Wenger seems to be destined to land sooner or later is Bolton defender, Gary Cahill. The England international has put in some outstanding performances at the Reebok Stadium and has also become a part of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 side.
Arsenal at the moment happen to have four centre backs, who include http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Djourou-c18779.
However, at the moment the Gunners are without both Vermaelen and Djourou, who are both recovering from knocks that they picked up earlier in the season.
Despite the fact that the duo would return to the Arsenal camp at the end of the season, the team really need one more defender in the centre of the pitch since even Wenger admitted that a perfect team would have no less than five centre backs to choose
amongst.
Keeping that in mind, the manager seems to have identified Cahill to be the perfect player to complete his defence and will now duke it out to secure the players services.
However, there are a few obstacles standing in the manager and the team’s way to landing the duo. City are going to be more than just reluctant to do any transfers with a team, who they consider to be their direct rivals in the League, and, hence, the move
will only go through if Given really pushes for it.
On the other hand, Cahill is bound to cost Wenger around fifteen to twenty million pounds and considering his attitude in the transfer market, the manager is going to have to dig deep if he wishes to land the defender.
