Arsenal looking to step up attempts to land Gary Cahill from Bolton Wanderers - English Premier League
One of the most talked about players in recent weeks is Bolton Wanderers defender, Gary Cahill. The defender has been linked with a potential move out of the Reebok Stadium for a couple of months now, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United being amongst
the favourites to secure the player’s services.
However, it now seems like out of the three, the Gunners are edging out to be the favourites to secure the England international’s services. At the moment the bookies are favouring the North London team to land the player and that is a serious clue as to
what the future might hold for him.
Prior to his move to Bolton, Cahill played for Aston Villa. However, ever since arriving at the Reebok Stadium in the 2008 season, he has been an instant hit with the club and it’s fans. The player has already gone on to make over a hundred appearances for
the team and it seems like he won’t be stopping any time soon.
Former Arsenal great, Ray Parlour is currently urging Arsene Wenger to land the talented defender and is quoted to have said, “I’d love to see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 at Arsenal, he’d be brilliant for the centre-half role.”
At the moment, a number of experts are also favouring Parlour's words, since out of the three possible destinations for Cahill, it seems like Arsenal would be the best one.
If the player opts to move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, he would not be able play in the Champions League in the immediate future and that is something that could greatly hinder his want to move to Anfield. On the other hand, if the player opts to make the move to Old
Trafford, then he would be making the move to a highly competitive back-line, which has the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 and Chris Smalling, which means his possibility of securing first team football almost immediately would be limited in a way.
However, at the same time, the unsure nature of the Arsenal defensive line is something that would greatly benefit the player. Not only would he be seeing ample field-time, but he would also be able to secure his place as a regular starter for the team,
almost immediately.
Nonetheless, in order for this move to go through, both parties will have to agree on a common ground, which in this case is the transfer fee for the player. Wenger, not being the biggest of spenders in the transfer market, might just have to change his
ways if he wants to secure the signing of Cahill in the summers.
