Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger frustrated after being knocked out of title race – EPL news
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his frustration over his side’s recent unimpressive performances that cost them the Barclays Premier League title in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
Arsenal were aiming to win their first Premier League title since 2004. However, the Gunners recent poor form, in which they claimed a single victory in seven League fixtures, derailed their title campaign.
Arsene Wenger feels that Arsenal were ‘closer than ever’ to claim the title and insists that his team had the quality needed to triumph in the League.
Wenger told reporters, “We feel more frustrated than ever because we are closer than ever to winning this league. The most important for me above all is the league and I think this year we had the quality to win it.”
Arsene Wenger also claimed that Arsenal’s recent poor performance completely killed their title hopes. Gunners’ 16-match unbeaten streak came to an end when they suffered a shocking loss against Bolton Wanderers and before that endured two consecutive draws
against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Tottenham Hotspur. Arsenal earned only two points of the last possible nine and now they stand nine points behind League leaders Manchester United.
Arsene Wenger also admitted that the Gunners are totally out of the Premier League title race but insisted that his side will fight for the UEFA Champions League after losing the second spot to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the League standings.
Wenger added, “It's very unlikely for us now, let’s not hide the truth but the pride of our group is to first of all finish in the Champions League. We have to look back, and we have to look up front because even if there is a minimal chance we have to fight
for it.”
Arsenal are currently placed third in the Premier League standings with 64 points to their name out of 34 games and are five points clear of fourth placed Manchester City.
