Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger fully focused on Barclays Premier League title
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his young Gunners deserve to win silverware for their efforts throughout the 2010-11 season. The Frenchman claims that he is trying his best to ensure that his players get their reward; the Barclays Premier League
crown.
It has been a terrible month for Arsenal. The Gunners were in with a shot of winning a possible quadruple, only to crash out of three cup competitions in the space of two weeks. A string of terrible results has seen Wenger's men exit the FA Cup, Champions
League and the Carling Cup tournaments with nothing to show for their efforts.
Now the only title left to fight for is the Barclays Premier League crown, and the Arsenal manager has revealed that he is desperate to help his players win the coveted trophy.
Wenger said, "This team wants to do well and I am so desperate to help them to get what they deserve. From the first day of the season, their attitude has been absolutely spot on. That's why they deserve to be rewarded and I am confident they will."
It's not going to be easy though. Leaders Manchester United just keep churning out results, recently defeating Bolton Wanderers to consolidate their position at the summit of the League. Arsenal had a chance to keep up the pressure on the Red Devils, but
they dropped two vital points against Premier League strugglers West Bromwich Albion over the weekend, allowing United to go five points ahead of them in the title race.
Manager Arsene Wenger admitted that his side's recent disappointments in Cup tournaments have had an adverse effect on their mental strength, which is why they performed so poorly against West Brom.
The Frenchman added, "Of course we were a bit nervous at the start of the game. We had four targets and now we have only one, so the pressure increases on that one. But the players are highly focused to do it and it was important not to lose on Saturday
(in the match against West Brom)."
If Arsenal are to have any chance of clinching the title this season, they cannot afford to drop any more points in the League. The Gunners next face Birmingham City at the Emirates Stadium after the International break.
