Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger not looking to buy come January transfer window
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says that he will stay away from the January transfer window.
The Gunners are currently 3rd in the table and only two points behind leaders Manchester United. But their home record has been disappointing so far, having lost 3 games already this season against the likes of West
Brom, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Key players like Cesc Fabregas, Thomas Vermaelen and Robin van Persie have suffered injuries this term and because of this reason it was believed that Wenger would be looking to reinforce the squad in January. Instead, the Frenchman
has vowed to stick with his current crop of players.
Wenger maintains that his policy has been to keep faith with the squad he has got and he will continue the same philosophy in the future. Unless he loses a player for a long term through injury there won’t be any new player joining
the club. He is happy with the group of players he has got.
However, there is good news for Arsenal as young Aaron Ramsey returns in January. After recovering from a serious injury, the player was loaned to Championship side Nottingham Forest so that he can regain fitness by playing competitive
matches.
The 19-year-old suffered a broken leg in February this year against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium. Ramsey suffered the horrible injury when Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross dangerously tackled the young Englishman; he suffered double
fracture and was hospitalized for many weeks.
On the fitness of Ramsey, Wenger said: “He is fit but not competitively match-fit. I left him the choice to go where he wanted. There are seven games before January when he comes back and I thought that is the best way.”
The Gunners boss believes that if he plays four or five games in the Championship then he will be fit to play for Arsenal.
He added: “We were a bit pushed by the deadline. To do it before Christmas, we had to do it last week, so I rushed a bit my decision, but it was the only opportunity."
However, Wenger might have to be forced into a change as Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is not happy to be warming the bench. The player recently voiced his concern publicly that if the situation continues he will have to look
for other options that include looking for a new club on loan or permanent basis. European giants Bayern Munich have shown interest in the 22-year-old. If the Danish international goes, Wenger will have to find his replacement in January.
