Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger praises Newcastle United’s Joey Barton
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has gone on to surprise nearly everyone, as the manager went on to praise Newcastle United midfielder, Joey Barton.
Barton was part of the Newcastle side that took on Arsenal as part of the opening day fixtures in the Premier League. During the second half o the game, Barton went on to have a rather bizarre confrontation with Gervinho. The forward went down in the Newcastle
area and this was not appreciated by Barton who grabbed the player by his shirt and lifted him straight off the ground. In the resulting after math, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755 flicked Barton on the face and the player dropped like a bag of bricks. As a result, Gervinho was
shown a red and Barton was shown a yellow card.
Barton has now gone on to admit that he may have overreacted a little bit and that he made a meal of the contact that was made by Gervinho. However, despite almost every http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 fan looking to go at the player, Arsene Wenger seems to be taking a completely
different route, as he has gone on to hail the midfielder.
The manager when talking about the player is quoted to have said: "I like the courage of the player"
However, the manager even went on to admit that there was still a possibility of Arsenal trying to land Barton, despite this confrontation between Barton and the Arsenal players.
When talking about the prospect of landing Barton, Wenger went on to add: "Nobody dismisses signing Joey Barton but I don't think we envisage doing that at the moment.
The manager then went on to hail his attributes as he stated:
"He's a good player. Sometimes there's trouble with his temper but he's a great player."
Wenger then went on to joke about how to deal with Barton, as he stated that perhaps the only way to fix the player, was to sign him.
The Gunners manager ended by jokingly stating:
"Maybe the way to sort Barton out is to sign him"
"Maybe that's the solution."
Despite Wenger joking at that time, it seems like there is every possibility of the manager actually going in and making a move for the Newcastle midfielder. Arsenal are set to lose out on two of their star midfielders and are in desperate need of experience
in the middle of the park. Barton has ample experience under his belt and should Wenger be able to contain his anger, he might just be able to get the best out of Barton.
