Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger rules out Alex Song but confirms Fabregas availability against Barcelona
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has confirmed that Alex Song will not be available against Barcelona but Cesc Fabregas has a very good chance of playing against his previous club at Nou Camp on Tuesday.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804 is completely out. He had a test yesterday [Sunday] morning. The test was negative and he’s out. Wilshere will be fit. Fabregas will have a final test today but 90 per cent he will travel and be fit.” said, Arsene Wenger. He added further. “It’s
vital for us because he’s [Fabregas] important in the transition between defending and attacking because he gets us out of pressure and can give a final ball as well. He’s the leader of the team so it’s important to have him in a big game like that. Everybody
who played on Saturday should be available.”
Alex Song suffered a knee injury in Arsenal’s Carling Cup defeat against Birmingham City two weeks ago. It was initially expected that the Cameroonian midfielder would recover in time for the Barcelona fixture. However, it is confirmed by the Arsenal manager
that Song has failed the fitness test and he will be no longer take part against the Spanish Giants.
Moreover, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463, who endured a frustrating goalless draw against Sunderland, was also feared to miss the Barcelona match after sustaining knocks in the last match. Arsene Wenger also doubted Wilshere’s availability. However, he has been declared
fit by the Arsenal medical team and will travel to Spain with the squad.
Cesc Fabregas was initially doubtful for the his dreamy return to Nou Camp after the Spaniard pulled his hamstring in Arsenal’s win over Stoke City. However, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Cesc Fabregas has a huge chance of featuring against his boyhood club,
Barcelona and will travel with squad to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011. Fabgregas’ inclusion in the squad will surely boost Arsenal’s chances, who are already without some key names ahead of the Barca trip.
Arsenal’s talismanic striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873, both have been ruled out of the Barcelona fixture. The Dutch striker suffered a knee injury while scoring an equaliser in Arsenal’s two-one Carling Cup final defeat against
Birmingham City. Whereas, Walcott sustained an ankle sprain in Arsenal’s win over Stoke City two weeks ago, forcing him out of action for more than three weeks.
Arsenal have never won a UEFA Champions League and a win over Barcelona at Nou Camp on Tuesday, will make them favourites to win the competition.
