Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger targets Scott Parker swoop - EPL news
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is willing to change his youth investment policy and wants to bring West Ham United midfielder, Scott Parker, to the Emirates stadium.
The Gunners’ trophy drought continued in the 2010/11 season as well and the Arsenal boss has been heavily criticised for Arsenal’s lack of silverware – the Gunners have not won any major title since the FA Cup victory in 2005.
Many pundits believe that lack of experience and mental strength has been the reason for the Gunners’ dismal campaign. Exits from the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League were followed by a heart-breaking loss in the Carling Cup final at the hands of Birmingham
City. To add to their disappointments, the Gunners saw their Premier League title dreams shattered after a series of below par performances.
Wenger now wants to ring the changes in his squad and add much needed steel to ensure success in the future, and Parker can certainly provide that. The Englishman had a fantastic season with West Ham, scoring 7 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions.
Moreover, the 30-year-old has received lot of praise for his work ethic and leadership qualities.
Despite Parker’s efforts, the Hammer have been relegated from the English Premier League to the npower Championship after just taking 33 points from 37 matches. It is reported that the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) player of the year will be leaving
Upton Park in the summer 2011 transfer window.
