It is being reported that Arsenal are queuing up the unlikeliest of moves, as the team is contemplating to make a move for Real Madrid forward, Karim Benzema at the end of the season. Arsene Wenger has been looking around to further boost his squad's offensive
options and feels that the French international is the ideal player to do that job.
At the moment, Benzema is a rather out-of-favour striker at the Spanish club. The striker has spent most of the season playing as a back-up player and when Gonzalo Higuain was forced out due to a herniated spine, Jose Mourinho went on to bring in Emmanuel
Adebayor on loan, which just goes to show the Frenchman's worth at the club.
However, what is rather surprising is that Benzema has been having a highly impressive season with the Spanish club so far this term. The forward, in total, has gone on to make 43 appearances for the team - most of which have been as second half substitutes
- and has gone on to score 22 goals and pick up eight assists along the way.
However, even that impressive record hasn't convinced Jose Mourinho of his abilities and the manager said that he will be looking to make a move for another forward at the end of the season. If one is to believe Mourinho, then Benzema's future at Madrid
as is good as over.
On the other hand, Arsenal could really use the services of a forward, who doesn’t have recurring injuries and can play consistent football. At the moment, the team possess http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380, who is their prime strike force, however, the Dutchman’s contributions
to the side have been really limited, primarily because he is almost certain to pick up an injury or two during the season.
On the bench, the team has the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Vela-c8558 (who is currently on loan to West Brom) and that just goes to show that the team doesn’t have real experience on their bench.
Benzema has previously been on Wenger’s radar, as the manager attempted to sign him at the start of the 2009 season, before his move to Madrid was completed. Nonetheless, it seems like Wenger is going to go all out and bid as much as 23 million pounds for
the striker, in order to make his side more competitive and lethal up-front, for the coming seasons.
