Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants his team to be positive despite Blackburn stalemate
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has urged his team to remain positive and give their best performances in the rest of the matches of the ongoing 2010-11 season in order to overhaul Manchester United for the Premier League crown.
The Gunners manager insisted that his players should forget about the past and concentrate on the upcoming matches.
Wenger said, “You cannot worry about yesterday and lose the targets you have in front of you. That is part of our job and mental strength as well, to deal with all these things.”
“I had not seen most of the players for two weeks and we got them back altogether on Friday morning for the first time, so it was very difficult to predict what would happen,” added the Frenchman.
Arsene Wenger has challenged his team to recover from the disappointment of being knocked out of three cup competitions within a span of one month. The Gunners were the only team in Europe which was contesting in four different competitions- the UEFA Champions
League, Barclays Premier League, FA Cup and Carling Cup.
Arsenal looked well on track of ending their six-year trophy drought as they entered the Carling Cup final against the League minnows Birmingham City. However, the Gunners failed to rise to the occasion and a major defensive error in the dying stages of
the match gifted the Carling Cup trophy to Birmingham City.
Moreover, despite producing an amazing performance and marking a historic win against Barcelona, the Gunners once again failed to impress at Nou Camp and suffered a 3-1 defeat which knocked them out of the European competition.
Most recently, Arsenal’s FA Cup campaign came to an end when they were defeated in the quarter-final of the League Cup by Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Now Arsenal hopes of winning silverware are tied to the Premier League crown but it seems like the Gunners are yet to recover from the failures in the Cup competitions. Arsene Wenger’s men drew their latest match against 10-men Blackburn Rovers, which was
also their third consecutive draw in the League.
The goalless draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 at Emirates on Saturday has put Arsenal seven points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United, though the Gunners still have a game in hand.
Arsenal still have to play eight more matches in the ongoing campaign and Wenger wants his players to give their 100 per cent in each of the upcoming fixtures.
