Arsenal manager says he will retire when he stops caring
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he will leave the English Premier League club when he no longer has the passion to help them succeed.
The Frenchman helped his side claim a vital 4-2 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday 27 November, but admitted he was angry after seeing the Gunners surrender a two-goal lead to Tottenham Hotspur in their previous EPL game.
Wenger admitted a great deal of frustration after seeing Younes Kaboul net a winner for Harry Redknapp's men, but insists that this showed his passion for the club and desire for them to improve and bring a five-year spell without any silverware to an end.
He told his club's official website: “I was angry. The day I don’t care anymore I will stop. I want this team to win because I believe in them. I feel they are hungry to win and they want to win so I just want to help them as much as I can. I don’t master
my reputation. What matters to me is Arsenal Football Club more than my reputation and I want people who love Arsenal to be happy.
“I try to give them that happiness and that’s it. Of course I have my pride, I want to achieve as mush as I can and give my best and I don’t think I will ever change on that front. There is no reason why we should not improve, our job is to be better tomorrow
than we are today and that’s what we try to achieve.”
Wenger's next opportunity to display his passion on the touchline will come when he leads his side out against Wigan Athletic in a Carling Cup quarter-final on Tuesday 30 November.
