Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes his side can still win the Premier League title as Manchester United have some crucial games ahead.
The youngster insists that the title race is not over yet and the Red Devils will drop points.
Arsenal’s title hopes were dented as they drew 1-1 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 17 April, 2011. The Gunners are now 6 points behind Manchester United in second place with 63 points and will face city rivals Tottenham Hotspur next
in a must-win match.
Wilshere claimed that Arsenal have had a hard time after they were knocked out by Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. The Londoners have been able to win one game out of five in all competitions which includes a loss to Manchester United, marking their
exit from the FA Cup.
The midfielder hoped that the Red Devils face the same dip in form after their departure from the domestic cup at the hands of Manchester City in the semi-final at Wembley.
“I definitely still believe we can win the title. We are confident United will drop points. We suffered after we lost to Barca in the Champions League. It was a hard two weeks for us and now the same can happen to United. They lost at Wembley and then have
a big Champions League semi-final [against Schalke] coming up. Maybe that can put them off,” the midfielder was quoted as saying.
The 19-year-old insisted that United still have a fixture left at the Emirates Stadium which could turn out to be the title decider. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international stated that the upcoming London derby will be of huge significance. He added that his side will
have to beat Spurs in order to strengthen chances of winning the Premier League.
He said, “The other thing is, they still have to come to the Emirates. If we beat them, then maybe we can put them on a bad run. Of course, we have to start winning games. It’s six cup finals left. That’s what makes the game against Spurs [Tottenham Hotspur]
so big. It’s massive.”
Jack Wilshere has become a first team regular this season and has made 41 appearances for his club already. He has scored two goals and has his name on nine assists.
