Arsenal might just end up landing Yossi Benayoun on permanent basis – Premier League Update
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has gone on to reveal that the Gunners are currently contemplating over the prospect of keeping http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520 at the Emirates on a permanent basis.
The Israeli international was signed by the Gunners from Chelsea as part of a loan deal on the deadline day of the transfer window. The team looked to invest in the player, in order to try and boost the team’s experience in the middle of the park and to
bring in some immediate back up for the gaping hole in the team’s midfield.
Wenger told reporters: “Benayoun gives his best every time he plays and we think he can integrate well. He can play on both flanks. He can play in the middle, although I think he prefers to play on the wing.”
The manager then turned his attention to whether the player would sing on a permanent basis or not and went on to add:
"It's too early to say at the moment [whether we will sign him], but I don't rule it out"
Benayoun hasn’t had much of an impact on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, considering the fact that the player went on to pick up an Achilles injury, which ruled him out of action for a majority of the season. However, with the thirty one year old now having regained full fitness,
it seems like he might just be able to play a very crucial role in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s season this time around.
The midfielder went on to play the whole game against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and that just goes to show the admiration that Wenger has for the player.
When talking about the contribution that the player made to the side during the Champions League game, Wenger went on to admit that the player was now quite fit, physically and that was a very positive sign.
"He has shown on Tuesday night that he is completely physically fit again"
"I want him to contribute as much as he can to the rest of the squad like every other player - not more, not less."
Based on the way things are shaping up, it seems like Benayoun will end up playing a good chunk of Arsenal’s season this time around. The player seems to have impressed the manager enough to be starting for the team and should he follow that up with some
decent performances, he might just end up sticking around at the Emirates till his career as a professional footballer comes to an end.
