The Gunners captain recently went on to admit that he wasn’t going to be sticking around at the club once his current contract came to an end and this news didn’t sit well with anyone associated to the team.
Just about everyone felt cheated and disappointed by the forwards comments, as they started preparing for life without the Dutch international.
However, it now seems like the club might not be willing to let the player leave before his contract actually comes to an end.
A  number o teams have reportedly shown interest in landing the prolific goal scorer, but Arsenal are willing to risk letting the player leave for free, rather than sell him over the summers.
The striker has blamed his fall out at the club, down to the fact that he just doesn’t agree with the way the club plans on moving forward.
Despite the forward not really having a say in such matters, the club still entertained his decision to a certain extent.
Nonetheless, the striker is now more than likely to end up staying in North London for the next year.
A source close to the club is reported to have said: “We are going to keep him and hold him to his current contract”
“When he is 30 it will be easier to re-sign him and in the last year [of his deal] we hope he will change his mind about wanting to leave.”
At the moment, Arsenal possess Olivier Giroud and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896, both of whom can operate as a striker at the club. Both the players have plenty of international experience and will be more than capable of helping the team move forward.
As it stands, it is now up to Van Persie to decide whether he wants to go on and see out his career at a club that stuck with him through his injuries, or move out in search of more money.
