Arsenal skipper set to be fit for the Manchester United clash on 13th of December, 2010
Following their win against Fulham in the latest round of English Premier League matches, through which they went to the top of the English league table, Arsenal have been given another boost as far as the fitness of their prized midfielder and captain Cesc
Fabregas is concerned.
The Spanish midfielder is on his way to full fitness and might make it to the starting line-up for Arsene Wenger’s team for their crucial tie against Manchester United.
Wenger’s team face another tough challenge in the coming week as they face Partizan Belgrade in a must-win match if they are to qualify for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. In their last match in the UEFA Champions League, Arsenal ended up as
2-0 losers against Braga and thus they are in a precarious position for their next tie.
In the English Premier League, Arsenal will visit Old Trafford in an attempt to tarnish Manchester United’s unbeaten record in the English league. If Fabregas is fit enough for the tie, it will be a massive boost for Wenger, who has had players like Nasri
performing to the best of their abilities lately. Apart from an unlikely win in 2006, Wenger’s men have not won at the theatre of dreams in the past four years.
Cesc Fabregas spoke about his injury problems to the British media as he said, "I'm happy to say everything is going according to plan with my rehabilitation. We've tried some new treatments and hopefully they can make a difference. My hamstrings are feeling
good, and my body feels good and rested. The Manchester United game is the target, so hopefully we can make it happen".
Wenger’s team has been criticized recently for wearing unconventional attire during their matches to keep themselves warm. Nasri and Chamakh have come in for some specific criticism for wearing neck-warmers and leggings. The Frenchman dismissed such critics
by saying, "I know there has been discussion of players using things like neck-warmers and leggings to keep warm, with Marouane Chamakh and Samir Nasri among the growing number of players wearing them”.
He added, "I have to explain, though, that both of them had stiff necks before the Aston Villa game - Samir could not train properly two days beforehand and it is a persistent problem for Marouane, so our medical staff were trying to protect them. I have
no problem with it, as long as it does not restrict the players' movement or harm their vision".
