Arsenal striker, Robin Van Persie, has insisted that the fans frustration is justified after a dismal season. He stated that there were a lot of promises which were not kept on part of the team as the Gunners go trophy less for another season.
Arsenal have had another disappointing season this term as they have again failed to secure any silverware. The fans have been left frustrated yet again as the club, which was competing in four competitions at one point of the season, currently sit in fourth
place with 67 points.
Van Persie claimed that he understands what the fans feel as they always want their team to win everything. He admitted that the team has disappointed the supporters in another season running but also stated that the players are equally upset.
The Dutchman insisted that the club’s dip in form early this year brought them down from a winning position in English Premier League to a possible fourth now. He revealed that the players had lost a lot of confidence and that resulted in the current situation.
“I can understand the fans' reaction because I feel connected with them and know they are frustrated. The players share that frustration but we are giving it everything. I am the first person to say when something isn't good enough and I'm not trying to
hide from our results,” the Dutchman was quoted as saying in an interview.
The forward added that he is happy with his current goal scoring form and hopes to carry on. Van Persie has scored 17 goals for the club after missing most of the season through injury.
He said that he is in the best form of his life and surely hopes to carry on and guide his side to victory against Fulham and end the season on a high.
“This is definitely the best scoring form of my career but there's been lots of ups and downs for me and for the team this season,” added the 27-year-old.
Arsenal will play their final match of the Premier League season at Craven Cottage against Fulham in a bid to snatch the third spot from Manchester City; the latter will have to lose to Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.
