Arsenal striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 confident the Gunners can win Premier League in ongoing season
Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has said that he is still confident that the Gunners would be able to overcome Manchester United in their pursuit to landing the Premier League crown at the end of the ongoing 2010-11 season.
The striker made these comments while suggesting that the Red Devils’ advancement in the UEFA Champions League might act as a hindrance for them and they might not be able to give their all in both the leagues. He said that this was something Arsenal could
take advantage of.
However, the forward is well aware that Arsenal’s fate is in their own hands now. Recently, they drew 0-0 against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and are now seven points behind Manchester United in the Premier League table. However, they still have a game in hand over
the Red Devils- which would become a must-win fixture for them if they are to stake their claims on the Premier League trophy in the ongoing season.
Talking about the team’s upcoming game against United and the mindset of the players at the Emirates, van Persie said, “The way I look at it is that United have two extra big games before they have to play us. Hopefully they will have to dig deep into their
reserves and come here tired. That's how I am looking at it because I want us to have the biggest chance against them.”
“We start working hard on Monday again and everyone will be positive. We cannot be different. We do believe. We still play them and we have a chance to get three points there. It's up to us. Everyone stays positive and speaks to each other and says 'Come
on, we've eight games to play for, give it your all'. We will do that,” added the Dutch striker of the Gunners.
Van Persie is at least staying positive about things. This is because almost everyone who believed that this could finally be Arsenal’s season to land a trophy, has started saying that perhaps six years without a trophy is not that bad.
If Arsenal do manage to go ahead and win all of their remaining fixtures, then they would stand a very small chance at winning the ongoing Premier League. However, if the Gunners manage to stumble at the finishing line again, then they would have to keep
on waiting for ending their trophy drought for at least another year.
