Newcastle United, Tottenham, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Chelsea are in action in the Barclays Premier League on the weekend and we take a closer look at the matches set to take place this Saturday.
The 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season is drawing to a close with only a handful of matches left to go and plenty still left to play for.
Saturday kicks off with Arsenal playing host to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at the Emirates Stadium. The match kicks off at 12:45pm and sees two teams in desperate need of a win as they strive for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Arsenal currently sit in third spot with 64 points, yet a win for Chelsea would see the Blues possibly climb into the top four for a few hours at least and narrow the gap between the two London sides to just four points.
The Gunners will not want to lose the match especially with Tottenham and Newcastle United just five points off the pace and with the possibility of that gap being cut to two points.
However, Arsene Wenger’s men have both home advantage and the fact that Chelsea will be fatigued, after their midweek semi-final against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the UEFA Champions League, in their favour.
A lot will depend on how Chelsea manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 striker to
be the focus of the Chelsea set up come match day.
That match will be followed by five other matches each kicking off at 3:00pm GMT.
Aston Villa will have the advantage of playing at home as they prepare for the visit of Martin O’Neil’s Sunderland to Villa Park. The home side are in desperate need of a win to lift their spirits as they are currently just six points clear of the relegation
zone.
Sunderland meaning while have the chance to go level on points with Liverpool if they manage to take all three points, though a draw seems the most likely result at this point in time.
Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canaries-c38723. Steve Kean’s Blackburn are currently in 19th place with a meagre 28-points to their name and a win against Norwich
could lift them out of the relegation zone depending on other results going in their favour.
Fans are not happy with the Kean and another defeat will only be another nail in the manager’s coffin, a nail that Kean will be hoping to postpone with three points on Saturday.
Read on in Part 2 for the rest of the weekend’s preview.
