Arsenal to finally land new keeper as Fulham find alternative, Carlos Kameni
Fulham are apparently ready to let their veteran shot stopper, Mark Schwarzer leave the team as they seem to have finally found a replacement keeper to fill in for the outgoing Australian. Schwarzer has in the past on numerous occasions been linked with
a move to Arsenal but the move failed to ever materialize as both the teams could not agree on any personal terms.
However all of that is due to change as Fulham have finally identified a player who could potentially replace Schwarzer at the team. The player that Fulham have targeted is none other than Espanyol's star keeper Carlos Kameni.
The 26-year-old has been something of a blessing ever since he arrived at the Spanish outfit and has been nothing short of brilliant. He has the ability to make some spectacular saves thanks to his agility and tends to save a penalty quite often. However
there is a down side to Kameni and that is the fact that he tends to make a silly mistake or two, on a number of occasions.
The player is also currently on contract with Espanyol till the summer of 2013 and is being valued at around six million pounds.
Even if Espanyol do decide to part ways with their keeper, the question that arises now is, do Arsenal still want to invest in a keeper who is nearing retirement by the minute?
The team has managed to rejuvenate Fabianski and the keeper is doing quite superbly at the Emirates. Arsenal will now be looking to bring in a much younger keeper, who can help provide reinforcements to the team on the long run, rather than for just a season
or two.
Nonetheless the ultimate decision lies with Arsene Wenger and it is going to be up to the manager to decide if he wishes to pursue a player who he failed to capture in the past. Considering Arsenal now also have all the money in the world to spend in the
market it would be foolish of them to go ahead and sign such an old keeper now.
