Arsenal to launch fresh move for Bolton's Gary Cahill
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a fresh move to try and land Bolton Wanderers centre-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439. The Gunners have been linked with the player on a number of occasions, but have somehow always managed to land short when it came to coughing up the right
amount of cash for the player.
The North-London side have stepped up their interest in the player after the in-demand defender had strongly been linked with a move to city rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. However, Arsenal are hoping they can beat the Blues to Cahill’s signature.
Bolton refused to listen to any offers from Arsenal when they tried to move in for the player last summer. However, it seems like the Trotters are now interested in listening to any offers for Cahill, as long as they meet their evaluation of the player -
which stands at around fifteen million pounds.
Arsenal seems to be the team with the weakest back-line in the top four this season. That along with the recurring injury to their star defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002 was something that was expected to dampen their attempts at landing the Premier League title,
or any trophy for that matter this season. However, the younger defenders in the side have really managed to step up and put on some brilliant displays. As a result, Arsenal are still in contention for the major trophies that they are competing for this season.
However, it is no secret that if one more of the Gunner’s defenders were to pick up an injury, they would have trouble finding replacements. Therefore, Arsene Wenger has hinted that he might actually pursue a big name signing in the winter, to try and add
more depth to the squad in defence during the crucial second half of the season.
According to most football pundits, if Cahill was to move to the Emirates then Arsenal's defensive line-up would finally be on par with their offensive one. That might just be the boost they need to end their 6-year trophy drought.
