Arsenal to launch intelligent bid for Kompany
Vincent Kompany who was signed by City during their revolution, is currently all but certain about his future. The player is currently said to be more than worried and feels that he can’t go on any further at the Eastlands. This uncertainty shown by the player has led to teams like, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton heading for their cheque books.
The twenty four year old Belgian defender, can play as both a centre back and a defensive midfielder. However even though he is considered to be a highly talented player, he feels his opportunities are more than limited.
With Manchester City gaining interest in Benfica’s defensive ace defender, David Luiz, it could only mean that Kompany’s time at City is drawing to a close. Kompany has reportedly held talks with City’s manager Roberto Mancini in hopes of ensuring that he would be a regular starter for the team this coming season. However it seems that this is highly unlikely and probably not going to happen. He has informed Kompany that he won’t be promising any one first team action for this coming term and hopes for all his players to earn their way into the first team.
This exchange of words between the manger and the player have alerted other team mangers like Hodgson and Wenger who are looking to add some positive reinforcement to their squads. The player however has said that he would like to stay at the Eastlands but the way things are going, he won’t be assured a long term future at the club.
Manchester City happen to have more than enough options in their defence and would certainly not miss any player leaving the team. However a team like Arsenal could use the extra defensive cover and would greatly relish the opportunity to sign Kompany. With the likes of Yaya Toure, De Jong and Viera in the City squad Kompany is more than certain to be dropped down the pecking order.
Arsene Wenger has been looking for experienced solid defensive players for a while now and with Kompany being available to help beef up that defensive line, he would be the ideal palyer to provide cover to the likes of Song and Vermaelen.
Kompany has shown great potential during his short run in at the Eastlands and has shown maturity way beyond his years for a player who is just twenty four years old. He is one of the few players in the English Premiership who has experience in both the English game and European games. He is physically in the peak of his form and possesses great technique and the ability to win almost every tackle he makes. He would be allowed to leave the team for as low as eight million pounds. That is something that would greatly attract Arsene Wenger. Wenger is used to making bargain buys for players and turning them into overnight wonders. This would also only help attract Kompany to the club who will be looking to build his form before the next World Cup.
Kompany is the ideal player for Wenger to make a move for. The players adaptability would be of tremendous help to the Club who are constantly faced with injury problems. They have lost three well experienced defenders this summer and are currently relying heavily on their youth players to provide the cover. A player like Kompany coming into the squad would only help make them serious title contenders instead of the underachievers that they have become over the past couple of seasons.
