Arsenal v Liverpool – Second half review: English Premier League (Part 1)
After ending the first half as the second best team despite the nil all score line, Liverpool started the second half off with a bang against Arsenal at Emirates stadium in London on 17th of April, 2011.
Arsenal controlled the tempo and the flow of the match in the first 45 minutes but they almost conceded an early second half goal as Luis Suarez led Liverpool’s first attack of the second half. The Uruguayan striker regained possession of the ball on the
half way line for the visiting team and then went past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Abou-Diaby-c3453 inside Arsenal’s half of the field.
The former Ajax striker had options to his either side in the shape of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998. Luckily enough for the Gunners, Suarez’s shot was just wide of the mark as
the score line remained at one nil at the Emirates stadium.
In the 51st minute, Liverpool’s fans had their hearts in their mouths as Andy Carroll went down inside the Arsenal penalty area. The former Newcastle United forward man clutched his knee in pain as the visiting team’s medical squad rushed onto
the field. Regardless, Carroll limped back onto the field in an attempt to shake off his injury.
In the 56th minute, Liverpool were on the front foot once again as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678 found himself with space just outside the Arsenal penalty area. The Portuguese box-to-box midfielder unleashed a powerful shot at Arsenal’s goal but his effort was
an inaccurate one as the referee signalled for an Arsenal goal kick.
In the 57th minute, Kenny Dalglish’s team were dealt another blow as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 went down in a heap. The veteran defender had a clash of heads with his teammate, John Flanagan. The players signalled for the medical staff once again and this
time Carragher was taken off the field in a stretcher as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 captain sustained a jaw injury.
Liverpool immediately opted for a substitute, as Sotiris Kyrgiakos came on for the Englishman.
In the 64th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international winger was wayward with his cross as Kyrgiakos cleared the ball out of touch.
