Arsenal vs. Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385: Arsene Wenger at loss of words to explain Gunners' performance
Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger was at a loss of words to explain his side’s poor performance against Blackburn this past weekend. The Gunners, despite having most of their key player’s back in the squad, failed to score a single goal and as a result had
to share the points with Rovers, in a game that ended as a nil all draw.
As a result of the draw with Blackburn, Arsenal are now seven points behind United, but do still have that game in hand to try and level things a little bit in the running to be Premier League Champions at the end of the season.
When talking about the game and his team’s performance in the match, the manager is reported to have said, “It was a frustrating performance because we had no pace in our game. Overall it was a flat performance with a lack of energy level, a lack of sharpness.
It was quite a big concern to see what we have seen today. It is difficult to identify one special thing.”
The manager also went on to state that the team now need to focus on getting their act together, before they could actually challenge United for the title.
Wenger then went on to add, “We have to focus on our performance, not on Manchester United. Before we speak about the title I believe we have to come back to a good level of performance. I just say that before we speak about the title we have to focus on
our performance level, because it was not good enough.”
It seems like Wenger might have finally realized the error of his ways and of his teams. It is a long shot, but it seems like Arsenal are now just in the title race for their self-respect, this is because with United having that massive lead in the league
at this point in the season, it is close to impossible for anyone to catch up with them, especially Arsenal, based on their current level of performances.
However in a drastic turn of events, the Gunners could be in the driver’s seat once again, but that seems highly unlikely at this point.
Wenger now needs to realize that what he needs to do is invest in some experience at the end of the season and perhaps try and land a player who has proven his worth and isn’t up and coming. If the manager manages to do just that, while maintaining his current
philosophy, Arsenal might finally land some silverware next term.
