Arsenal vs. Bolton Wanderers: Fantasy Premier League Picks – Gameweek 6
The Barclays Premier League continues to entice the football loving public to tune in every weekend and see some of the best sides in the world take each other on in some fairly dramatic encounters.
This weekend throws up a number of interesting ties, with sides either looking to recover from upsets and get their season going or hoping to ride their recent run of good results.
One of those matches takes place at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal will play host to one of their bogey teams, Bolton Wanderers, in what is surely a must not lose game for the Gunners.
Overview
Arsenal have gotten off to one of their worst starts to a Premier League campaign in recent history and despite the constant reassurances from the Arsenal Board, one can sense the pressure mounting on the coach, Arsene Wenger.
On the other hand, Bolton are struggling as well, with just three points in five games, their season could be over before it even started.
It would be easy to pick Arsenal to go on and win this game, but having lost to Blackburn Rovers in the previous Gameweek, who themselves were almost exactly in the same situation Bolton are currently in, that choice may end up being a tad premature.
Goal Keeper
Both sides have a defence and keeper that resemble more of a slice of Tom and Jerry-esque cheese, than a rock solid back four.
Arsenal has let in an astonishing number of goals and Bolton is also not doing too well themselves. So, choosing a keeper from either side would be similar to shooting oneself in the foot.
The home side have been in decent goal scoring form, so choosing the Bolton Wanderers’ keeper, Jussi Jaaskelainen, should not even be considered.
At the same time, Arsenal has a knack of conceding even when the opposition poses no real threat. Take for example the previous match, which saw the Gunners put two balls in the back of their own net.
Defenders
For the sake of being slightly on the safe side, we would again recommend a wing back. This is because even if either side does concede, it allows the manager an opportunity to still manage to salvage some points if the player does well attack-wise.
Bacary Sagna, is our choice, though at the same time Kieran Gibbs is not a bad choice either.
Midfielders
Relying on Arsenal players alone may seem like a good idea under normal circumstances but with the Gunners’ recent form, it may no longer be a wise one. Mikel Arteta is slowly coming to life at the Emirates and is a good choice, while Theo Walcott’s inconsistent
performances have us hesitant to recommend him.
On the other hand, Martin Petrov has been in inspirational form, managing to score in his previous match as well. It is up to the Fantasy Manager himself, which of the two players he will consider; however, for us at least, we will only be considering strikers
from this match.
Strikers
Kevin Davies causes problems against any side he plays against and Per Mertesacker may find handling the feisty striker a bit of a challenge.
At the same time, Robin Van Persie has managed to find the back of the net on regular occasions this season and is another solid choice.
Our Picks: Robin Van Persie is our only pick for this match, mostly because he has had a hand in everything that has been good about Arsenal this season.
