The match of Arsenal against Manchester City ended in a nail-biting goal-less draw at the Emirates, and both the teams ended up sharing the points in the English Premier League.
Arsenal’s Dutch striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699 was in good form and played a big part in keeping his team on level terms throughout.
In the end, both teams were a man short as an unfortunate incident saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bacary-Sagna-c7148 from Arsenal sent off by referee, Mike Jones.
As the match kicked off, it was Arsenal that started on the front foot. When Samir Nasri played a ball to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873, but it
was cleared easily.
Manchester City also got their share of attacks in the first 10 minutes; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Milner-c17706 did well on the right flank attempting to dominate, but his low cross was not met by any striker in the centre.
Van Persie was at it again just 9 minutes into the game; the left footer did well to create some space for himself before letting it fly from just outside the area. The ball seemed destined for the bottom corner and Hart was beaten but unfortunately it hit
the base of the right hand post and went out. The match had started at lightening pace and it was expected that the intensity would go down eventually. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423 from City was the first one to go in the referee’s books, following a rash tackle on Bacary
Sagna, who did well to get clear on the flank.
Carlos Tevez, on the other end, did well to receive the ball from a free kick, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804 was on duty to deflect the ball away.
As the first half was halfway through, Arsenal once again went within inches of taking the lead. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 did well on the flank to beat his man and went close to the bye-line. The winger then laid it off to Fabregas, but the midfielder’s shot was slightly
off target and scrapped the crossbar before going behind. Frustration was creeping into the Gunners' camp as City put up a solid defence.
Manchester City also made a quick break and Carlos Tevez was free on the edge of the area, but instead of going into the box he decided to take a shot and was well over the bar.
Later, Arsenal players were screaming for a penalty when Theo Walcott’s cross was met by the arm of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184, but the referee was not interested.
With an hour gone in the game, Van Persie was the one to go closest to scoring as he once again found space outside the penalty area and smashed the ball. The ball looked destined for the left top corner, but Joe Hart pulled out a top drawer save, leaping
to his left and palming it over the bar.
Both managers made changes but still could not find that elusive goal as the match ended at 0-0. It turned out to be a perfect evening for Manchester United as both title rivals dropped points and they stretched their lead at the top of English Premier League
table.
