Arsenal vs. Partizan Belgrade: Recap and Bettor.com Player Ratings (Part 2)
Contd…..
Player Ratings:
Partizan Belgrade
Vladmir Stojkovic (8.5)
Without a doubt, Stojkovic was the best player on Serbian side despite letting in three goals. The former Wigan Athletic keeper was just extraordinary between the poles. A somewhat ridiculous save after save was the hallmark of his game last night. Surely,
Stojkovic was the Man of the Match for Partizan Belgrade.
Mladen Krstajic (6)
Mladen Krstajic also gave the Gunners a hard time. This skipper of Partizan Belgrade led by example but couldn’t keep up with Arsenal’s high tempo passing.
Marko Jovanovic (4)
Marko Jovanovic was the only player who was shown red card in the match as he made an awful tackle from behind Arsenal’s striker Chamakh in the penalty box. For that, he also gave away the penalty.
Alexander Lazevski (5.5)
Alexander Lazevski was quite impressive during the first half for the home side. The Serbian international expertly covered Chamakh and didn’t let him create problems but Lazevski couldn’t perform well in the second half.
Ivan Stevanovic (3)
Stevanovic was the flop of the match as he couldn’t create any problems for the Gunners on the left side at all. Ivan was substituted due to his unimpressive display on the field.
Petrovic (6)
Petrovic was one of the dominant players for the home side, who created problems for the Arsenal defenders in the starting minutes of the match.
Medo (5.5)
Medo didn’t prove to be a threat for the Gunners in the midfield. He was wasteful in possession and gave away the ball easily.
Sasa Ilic (4.5)
Sasa Ilic was completely unknown on the pitch and it seemed like he wasn’t even playing in the team. He was also substituted during the second half.
Nemanja Tomic (5)
Nemanja Tomic also produced an ineffectual performance. He was replaced as well in the later stages.
Cléo (7)
Cléo is Partizan’s new impressive signing and he looked like a bargain after scoring eight times in UEFA qualifying stages. Cléo was also successful in engraving his name on the score sheet last night. He took the first penalty successfully for the Serbian
Kings to equalize the scores but failed to convert the second penalty which was impressively saved by Arsenal’s second choice keeper.
Pierre Boya (6)
Pierre Boya was influential on the pitch. He managed to outrun Arsenal’s defense line on many occasions and looked committed and devoted as he did his best to contain an uncontainable Arsene Wenger side. Boya also managed to get his side second penalty in
the dying minutes of the clash.
Arsenal
Lukasz Fabianski (7)
Fabianski had a great game at a great time of his career. For once, the Polish keeper had an enjoyable night. If Manuel Almunia continues to blunder, you may expect his deputy Lukasz Fabianski to get more and more time between the poles.
The Polish shot stopper was involved at times in making some neat saves along with a superb penalty shot. Hopefully, Fabianski’s performance would boost his moral and would earn him a place in the starting eleven against the fierce rivals, Chelsea, next
weekend.
Bacary Sagna (6)
Bacary Sagna wasn’t at his best but luckily he wasn’t hounded by the Belgrade attack either. The Frenchman contributed credibly in attack and he seemed to be all over the pitch but still was not able to provide any threatening passes which were expected
of him. All he had to do was to pass in the attack and track back.
