Arsenal vs. Swansea - Fantasy Premier League Preview: Gameweek 4
After a lengthy break from the Barclay’s Premier League due to the international break, it is time for things to return to the normal non-stop drama and excitement as the English Premier League resumes.
The first match of the weekend will see the hapless Gunners take on newly promoted Swansea.
Arsene Wenger will be looking to bounce back after the crushing defeat at the hands of the reigning champions, Manchester United, and will be looking for the new boys to help lift the team spirits as well as their performances.
On the other hand, Swansea will know that they could not have asked for a better time to play the Gunners, who are having one of the worst starts in their history.
Arsenal
We are actually willing to go as far as saying that picking an Arsenal goalkeeper at this point in time is a death wish. Yes, Per Mertesacker may have been brought in to sure things up at the back, but until he settles into the side, Arsenal goal keepers
should be off-limits, even against the likes of Swansea.
Defenders
While the Goal Keeper may be a big risk, Arsenal defenders, on the other hand, are an entirely different story. Yes, they may be not be watertight but the way the Gunners play means that they will be on the attack and will have chances to score points.
Bacary Sagna (6.4-million) and Kieran Gibbs (5.4-million) are two good options as the two wing backs both like to attack and set up opportunities for others. However, new signing Andre Santos (6.5-milllion) seems a promising prospect, though for the moment
we recommend he be put on hold until we can see how he fares in the physical nature of the Premier League.
Sagna is the best pick for the moment, though taking a gamble with Gibbs may not be too bad an idea either. We leave it here to reader to decide based on their budget.
Midfielders
Theo Walcott (9-million) may be the only Arsenal player who is performing at his level best at the moment, though inconsistency has become a trademark for the English winger. Andrei Arshavin (8.9-million) has also lost some of the flair which made him a
sensation earlier on.
However, the signing of Mikel Arteta (8.1-million) from Everton may just be just what Fantasy managers wanted. Finally, at a big club the player is sure to excel with the quality he possesses. At his transfer value and the fact that he is a dead ball specialist
make him a must have.
We are still on the ropes about Yossi Benayoun (6.9-million) because we honestly do not see how Wenger will opt to use the Israeli international in his setup.
Arteta is the way to go.
Strikers
Robin Van Persie is the obvious choice. The Dutch international has been at the end of almost every promising Arsenal move and is the tip of the spear for the Gunners.
Swansea
Players who wish to be brave, or have Swansea goal keeper, Michel Vorm, in their sides may find it wise to play him. With an unbelievable points tally of 20 in three matches, he is the surprise package of the league so far.
Defenders
Plenty to choose from here, especially seeing how Arsenal are in such disarray and attempting to regroup, but highly sought after defender, Neil Taylor, should be on everyone’s mind.
Midfielders
At just 4.5-milllion, Nathan Dyer’s return of 15 points is great value for money and his pace and ability are sure to trouble the leaky Arsenal defence at the very least.
Strikers
Not much to choose from in the way of strikers here, so we recommend staying away from the Swansea strike force at the moment.
Our Picks: Arsenal will be the hungrier side and with the injection of new players, they should sneak a win. Expect debutant, Mikel Arteta and Robin Van Persie to score the points in this match.
