Arsenal vs. West Brom: Arsene Wenger delighted with the character shown by Gunners
Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has gone on to state that the two goal comeback that Arsenal pulled off against West Brom just goes to show the character that the Gunners have and that his team are mentally capable of winning the Premier League.
Arsenal went down to two early goals, however, goals from both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 saw the game end as a two all draw, but saw Arsenal fall four points behind league leaders, Manchester United. However the Gunners still have a game in hand
to try and catch up with the Red Devils.
The manager strongly believes that this game has shown the resilience that many have questioned his team to not have and feels that they can now go all the way and win the Premier League crown. The Frenchman also went on to issue a challenge to his players
to use this draw as a platform to carry on strong for the rest of the season and pick up the maximum points that they can.
Wenger is reported to have said, “We had our backs to the wall and it was about our character and resilience. But psychologically for the rest of the season it was important for us to show character and not lose a game. I think that is a good basis to finish
the season now.”
The Arsenal manager went on to add, “And overall I think the team, if not completely happy tonight, at least we know we are ready for a fight. To lose today would have been a massive blow and it was a better point because we were two goals down. Mathematically
we dropped two points but let's start again at home next time.”
What was rather disappointing to see in the game was the fact that one of the goals that was scored by West Brom, was courtesy of another goal keeping blunder by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Almunia-c23386. The Spaniard once again made a rush off his line and was caught in no man’s
land which eventually resulted in the West Brom players having an almost empty goal to score in.
The manager decided to stay quiet over the topic as to whether http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jens-Lehmann-c18297 would be used as the first-choice keeper till the end of the season, due to these reasons or not, but it wouldn’t seem unlikely if that did happen.
However, just to liven things up, the manager ended by stating that a host of players would be back in action after the International break including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873.
