Arsenal vs. West Ham United: Player Ratings and Man of the Match last part
Continued…
Chamakh’s link up play was good, and he tried to bring others into the game. In the later stages of the match, when Nicklas Bendtner was brought in, Chamakh moved to left wing to play as a winger.
West Ham United Striker
Frederic Piquionne: 5.5
Piquionne was not at his best against Arsenal. The former Portsmouth man was not able to produce something remarkable in the match and failed to make an impact. It was not an inspiring performance from the Hammers’ striker.
The new signing of Avram Grant failed to control ball at times and had a poor game by his standards.
Arsenal Substitutes
Theo Walcott: 7
Theo Walcott was introduced in the match after an hour mark. He replaced Denilson and was given the right flank. It was almost the dream start for the Walcott when Fabregas played a superb through ball to him and he beat his marker with stunning speed to
race through for a goal. But, unfortunately, his first touch went on to hit the post.
It was overall an average performance for the young English winger. He was not able to create anything in later stages of the match.
Nicklas Bendtner: 6
The young Dane was substituted in the last minutes of the match as he came on to replace Andrei Arshavin. Bendtner did not see much of the ball but provided a towering presence in the box.
West Ham Substitutes
Carlton Cole: 6
He was brought in the dying stages of the match. Cole tried his best make to put his team at front. But he failed to do something remarkable at the Emirates.
Man of the Match:
Arsenal
Alex Song’s superb last minute impressive header sealed three crucial points for his team which can prove to be vital in the title race. The Cameroon International has been in great form and has scored in his last three appearances for Arsenal. It was an
outstanding display from Alex Song and he has grown into a complete midfielder this season.
Alex Song has scored four times producing two assists in eleven appearances so far in this season. Over the time, he has managed to engrave his name in the starting eleven of the Gunners and has established himself as one of the best midfielder in the world.
West Ham United:
Without a doubt, it was none other than Robert Green, who deserved to be Man of the Match for the Hammers. The English shot stopper suffered the worst moment in his career at World Cup when he fumbled a faint shot to go through between his legs. But, Green
stood up and accepted the blame like a man, and now he is showing that he has potential to wear England number one shirt.
Even though he is one of the most criticized keeper in the Premier League, he silenced his critics with an exceptional show against Arsenal.
Robert Green was nearly unbeaten in the match and pulled off several reflexive saves to keep Arsenal at bay. He showed great quality and composure, but was unfortunate to concede a goal in the last minutes of the match. However Green could not have done
anything about the deadly goal from Alex Song as it simply was struck too firmly.
Overall it was a remarkable performance from the English international.
