Arsenal  will try and keep Gael Clichy at the Emirates – Premier League Update
It is being reported that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are going to open up contract talks with full-back, Gael Clichy, in hopes of retaining the defenders services.
The French international had been linked with a move out of the club and as a result, almost every top European team was looking to make a move for the player.
However, it now seems like the twenty five year old might not be leaving for sure, just yet. This is because Arsene Wenger has decided to finally try and re-negotiate a new contract with the player and hopes that the player will end up sticking around at
the club for a little longer.
The player was being linked with a move to the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. However, all those clubs will have to keep a hold of their bids for just a little longer.
Arsene Wenger, when talking about Gael Clichy and his future at the Emirates, is quoted to have said: "We have started talks with Gael and want him to stay"
At the moment, the defender has only one year left on his contract with the team. That means, should the player decide not to extend his stay at the club, then the Gunners would risk letting the defender leave for free at the end of next season and that
is something that they are not willing to do.
Gael Clichy, apart from being the last member of the “Invincible” squad at the Emirates, is also by far the best left-back that the team possesses. Clichy has lighting pace and he tends to use that to his advantage in both the offensive and defensive department.
He has the ability to constantly dart forward and whip in crosses, while sprinting back in a heartbeat and preventing the opponents from breaking on the counter.
At the moment, the only replacement left-back that the team have, is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kieran-Gibbs-c20945. Gibbs, who is yet to mature as a player, happens to have a recurring injury problem, apart from which, he has shown over the course of the season that he just can’t be relied
on week in and week out to give Arsenal the best in the left-back position.
As a result, no matter what way we look at it, Arsenal really need to try their best to retain Clichy as he is the player, who helps bring the pacy connection between the midfield and the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904 and should he leave, Arsenal will lose a very important piece
of their puzzle.
Nonetheless, with Wenger now entering extended talks with the player, it seems highly likely for him to pen down an extension and help Arsenal fight for silverware next season.
