Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey loaned to Nottingham Forest until January
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has secured a short loan deal with Championship side Nottingham Forest after returning from a lengthy absence.
Ramsey broke his leg after being tackled by Stoke City's Ryan Shawcross in February, an injury that kept him out of action for nine months.
The Welshman made his competitive return for Arsenal's reserve team on Tuesday 23 November, playing the first half of the team's 2–1 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers' reserves.
Manager Arsene Wenger has previously said the midfielder would not be loaned once he returned to fitness, but has now opted to let Ramsey join Forest until 3 January 2011.
"It's just nice to get a player of such quality in from Arsenal," manager Billy Davies told Forest's official website upon the announcement of the deal, adding that his club had been lucky to secure Ramsey's services on such short notice.
"You don't suppose you sometimes have hope but if you don't buy a ticket you don't stand a chance of winning the lottery. We thought we'd try a flyer, ask some questions and before we knew it there was a slight possibility of getting him
and then all of sudden we're delighted. Everybody at the club is very, very pleased with the fact that an excellent footballer coming to the club."
Forest are currently sixth in the Championship with 27 points from 18 games.
Ramsey's short spell at the club will not see him face his former club Cardiff City, whom he left for Arsenal in the summer of 2008.
The 19-year-old made 29 appearances for Wenger's team last season, which was ended prematurely after his untimely injury.
On its website, the club said it would be happy to receive a match-fit Ramsey in 2011.
"Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Aaron the best of luck during his time with Nottingham Forest and we all look forward to seeing him once again in an Arsenal shirt in the New Year," the statement read.
