Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is grateful to Southampton for making him the player he is today
Arsenal youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Oxlade-Chamberlain has gone ahead and thanked Southampton for making him the player that he is today.
The winger/midfielder made these comments following Arsenal’s win over Shrewsbury Town in the Carling cup.
Arsenal went down to their opponents in the game, but went on to produce a spirited comeback in the second half, to win by three goals to one. Chamberlain was integral to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s victory in the game and he even went on to score a brilliant goal from nearly
thirty yards out.
When talking about his former club, Chamberlain is quoted to have said: “I owe them massively - I’d been at Southampton since I was seven.”
“They put so much hard work into me and the fans down there welcomed me into the first team so warmly.
“I couldn’t have asked for more, so I’ve got a lot of time for them and I hope to be able to play there again one day and show my appreciation. I’ll always have a place in my heart for them.”
At the moment, Southampton seem to be on the brink of making it into the Premier League. The side are currently performing brilliantly in the Championship and could be in the Premier League next season.
Chamberlain feels that the success of the club is mostly due to the fact, that the team has an outstanding policy, when it come to recruiting players.
“One major factor down there is that it’s such a great group of lads - one of the hardest things about leaving was the boys,” he added.
“Whoever comes in is welcomed straightaway, much like here at Arsenal.”
Arsene Wenger has gone on to admit that Chamberlain has a massive future at the Emirates ahead of him and that it is only a matter of time before he becomes a regular member of the first team.
