Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger disappointed with end-season dip in form – English Premier League news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 manager, Arsene Wenger, has once again revealed his disappointment at the Gunners’ failed Barclays Premier League campaign. The Frenchman’s comments come just after Manchester United became the most successful club in the English history by winning
a record 19th Premier League crown.
Manchester United’s situation is in stark contrast to that of Arsenal. The Gunners have now failed to win a single trophy in the past six years, and critics are now starting to question whether Arsene Wenger is really the right man to lead the London club
back into a new era of glory.
Arsenal’s 2010/11 campaign got off to a blistering start, and they soon established themselves as genuine contenders to win the quadruple of the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, Carling Cup, and the Premier League. However, Wenger’s men went into a nosedive
in late February and were knocked out of all three Cup competitions in the space of two weeks.
A disappointing string of draws near the end of their domestic campaign also ended their hopes of lifting the Barclays Premier League title, and the Gunners now face the prospect of spending another year empty-handed.
Manager Arsene Wenger is understandably upset with his team’s plight, especially since he believes that his players deserved some sort of reward for their efforts this season.
Speaking on the matter, the Frenchman said, “When you know you have no chance, you accept it, but this season I felt the attitude of the team was right, the potential was there and we were very close in every competition. You cannot say we failed quality-wise
because we have produced some fantastic football games and overall the contribution, the energy this team has given, is absolutely amazing.”
He added, “I wanted them so much to be rewarded that I got more and more frustrated during the season."
Arsenal’s worries are not yet over, as Manchester City are mounting a late challenge to overtake the Gunners in third place. Only two points separate the clubs at the moment, and Wenger knows that his charges will have to start producing results if they
want to ensure their automatic place in the group stages of next season’s Champions League.
