Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bacary-Sagna-c7148 undergoes successful knee surgery – Premier League Update
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 have gone on to confirm that French international, Bacary Sagna has now undergone a successful surgery and will be out of action for the next three months or so.
The first choice right back was in action against Tottenham, but later on during the game as he challenged for a ball, he seemed to fall very awkwardly on his knee. It was initially believed that he just tweaked a muscle, but replays indicated that his injury
could be much worse.
Following the game, the French Football Federation went on to confirm that the player had suffered a fracture and would be out of action for twelve weeks at the least.
Despite the French association making those claims, Arsenal are still finalizing the player’s recovery period and are yet to disclose just how long the player will be out of action for.
The player was later assessed to require an operation to be fit again and hence he went under the knife on Monday. The surgery went along flawlessly and the player was happy to be on the path to recovery.
The Arsenal website took time to address the player’s injury and a post on the Gunners page is quoted to have said: "Bacary Sagna has this afternoon undergone further assessment and investigations on his fractured right fibula with the club's medical team
and specialists”
"As a result of these tests, Bacary has had surgery to stabilise the injury.
"The surgery went according to plan and there has been no significant alteration to the initial prognosis that Bacary will be out of action for a minimum of three months.
"Everyone at the club wishes Bacary a speedy recovery."
With Sagna now out of action for around three months – which is the time frame that experts are predicting, it seems like Arsenal will look t the services of Carl Jenkinson to try and fill in the void left by the player.
The youngster has made a couple of appearances this season, but he is in no way as good as Sagna, at best, Jenkinson is half the player that Sagna is and hence Arsene Wenger is going to have to push the player and himself to get the best out of the youngster.
Should Wenger and Jenkinson be able to maintain their stance and manage to prevent the team from suffering in the absence of the French international, then Arsenal could potentially go through the three month period without suffering any massive setbacks.
However, should Jenkinson fail to produce world class performances, then things might just get whole lot worse for the Gunners.
