Arsenal’s Emmanuel Eboue urges his team to play without fear against Manchester United
Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has urged his team to show no fear when they face Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on 1st May. Eboue is aware that the Gunners are no longer in the title race, but he believes
that his side can still derail United’s march towards a record 19th Premier League title.
Arsenal are staring down the barrel of yet another trophy-less season. This is manager Arsene Wenger’s sixth successive season with the Gunners which has failed to produce any sort of silverware. Just a few weeks ago, no one would have believed that to be
possible. Arsenal were in with a shot of winning the quadruple this campaign; however, a series of dismal performances resulted in their exit from three cup competitions.
Their only hope of silverware in this campaign was the Premier League crown, but even that faint glimmer of hope was extinguished with the recent 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.
There is no way Arsenal can save their season now, but winning against their arch-rivals Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium will go a long way towards healing this season’s wounds. The two teams will face off on 1st May, and defender Emmanuel
Eboue has called out for a courageous display from his team-mates.
The Ivorian, who is hopeful of being recalled to the squad for the crucial encounter, said, “We need to respect them and play our football, don't be scared. Play our football and we will see after the game."
Eboue warned his comrades to keep a close eye on United’s evergreen midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 during the match. The Welshman is now 37 years old, but he shows no signs of quitting anytime soon. Giggs has proven time and time again that he is still a force to
be reckoned with, and Eboue believes that Arsenal would be foolish to think otherwise.
The defender added, “When he plays, he's like he's 20 because he's everywhere, he runs everywhere. So you have to be careful about him."
Arsenal are currently in third place in the Premier League standings, nine points behind Manchester United.
