Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong admits that even a Championship side wouldn’t have conceded eight goals against Manchester United
Arsenal youngster Emmanuel Frimpong has gone on to admit that even a lowly placed Championship side would have not gone on to concede eight goals to Manchester United.
The midfielder was not part of the Gunners squad that went on to suffer one of their worst beating ever, when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 travelled to Old Trafford earlier in the season, but feels that the team’s performance was simply abysmal.
Frimpong, when talking about the game is quoted to have said:
“To lose eight goals, even the lower teams in the Championship wouldn’t lose eight goals playing [against] Manchester United but, as the boss said, it’s one of them games where it’s a freakish game.”
He then went on to admit that he couldn’t even watch the game during some parts and admitted that the fans were probably quite disgusted by what they saw.
“I remember watching it home and I kept turning the TV off so imagine what a proper Arsenal supporter must have been going through, but we’re just going to have to forget about it.”
However, the player feels that he can help contribute to the side and hopefully prevent the same thing from happening again, when the two sides meet for the second leg.
At the same time, the player feels that Arsenal have gone on to make some worthy additions to their squad and these new players can really help the team move forward in the near future. All in all, Frimpong feels that the performance that Arsenal game against
United will not repeat itself ever again.
Had Frimpong not been suspended for the game, Arsenal might have not suffered such a cruel fate at the hands of United.
However, many believe that the defeat to the Red Devils is what caused Wenger to go ahead and invest in so many players in the transfer window and hence, it seems like that defeat turned out to be a win for the club on the long run.
