Arsenal's Injury Update (Part 2)
Contd.....
There is no doubt that Bendtner possesses a lot of talent. All he needs to do is to improve and become the first choice striker for Arsenal. In the final stages of the last season, Bendtner was one of those youngsters who had taken their opportunities when
big players were missing from the squad.
-Theo Walcott
On 7th September 2010, Theo Walcott had sustained an ankle injury during the first half of the Euro Qualifier match against Switzerland. Two days later, Arsene Wenger had said that Walcott is likely to be out for “four to six weeks”. The manager
went on to say: “We had some good news about the scan because at some stage we were scared it could be worse. But overall, it is a question of patience and rehabilitation.”
The young English striker is currently making some good progress but he will not rush to his recovery. So, he would be doubtful for the Birmingham City match at Emirates but still Theo Walcott might play in the season deciding fixture against Manchester
City.
-Kieran Gibbs
Kieran Gibbs sustained injury in the first half of extra time against Tottenham Hotspurs in the Carling Cup fixture. Although, Arsenal thrashed their rivals by four goals but it was thought that the left back might have broken his metatarsal at White Hart
Lane.
The injury was to Gibbs’ second metatarsal and it is not a recurrence of the injury which he had sustained last November; when a broken first metatarsal put him out of action for three months. The talented English defender will be back in a short while,
most probably for the Birmingham City fixture and Gael Clichy will have to perform at his best, to remain the first choice left-back for Arsenal.
-Robin Van Persie
Robin Van Persie suffered an ankle injury against Blackburn Rovers in the first half on 28th August 2010. This match was his first of the season for the Gunners. Although, Arsenal managed to get full three points from that fixture but they lost their star
striker.
At first, it was thought to be a small injury and RVP was expected to play soon but then Wenger admitted that it may be longer than expected before RVP returns to action. “At the start, we were optimistic. Maybe a bit too much, thinking it would be one or
two weeks but the damage was bigger than expected. He will be four to six weeks.”
The Dutch striker is still some way away from full fitness but is expected to be fit at the start of November. But then, it would not be a surprise if his return is further delayed.
-Aaron Ramsey
Arsenal played Stoke City in an away fixture on 27th February 2010, and Aaron Ramsey was tackled by Stoke's skipper. The Welsh International suffered a double fracture in his lower right leg and Shawcross was sent off.
Meanwhile, Ramsey was hospitalized and it was later confirmed that he had broken his tibia and fibula. He is also on the road to recovery and Wenger recently earmarked November for his possible comeback.
