Arsenal's Injury Update (Part 3)
Contd.....
After his lengthy rehabilitation, Ramsey can expect the warmest of welcome when he does return to action. He wants to repay the loyalty of the club and its fans by scaling new heights in a red and white shirt.
Ramsey said, "All I have ever wanted to do is be a professional footballer. I am doing that now, even though I've had a little blip, and I'm very confident I will come back from this as an even stronger and better player. Hopefully, I can keep improving
and can become a great player for this football club."
According to the manager, Aaron Ramsey isn't so far away from returning to training and it is estimated to be three weeks before he returns to full training.
-Thomas Vermaelen
Thomas suffered an Achilles injury while on international duty with Belgium in September. The knock was expected to keep the defender out of action only for a matter of days.
But, the injury is taking longer than expected to heal and he is still some way from full fitness. Vermaelen sat out all six matches last month, will miss Sunday’s trip to Chelsea and possibly even more.
Arsene Wenger admitted, “He is not close [to fitness]. He has an Achilles problem and we had problems to sort it out. I don’t think he will require surgery but he needs more time. It is very slow to heal.”
Vermaelen’s recovery will take some time and it is not known when he would actually be fit for Arsenal.
-Manuel Almunia
On 25th September 2010, Arsenal's veteran goalkeeper, Manuel Almunia suffered an elbow injury against West Bromwich Albion at Emirates. The Spanish goalie damaged his elbow in the penalty incident eight minutes before the half time. It is still not certain
whether it was while bringing down Peter Odemwingie for the foul or saving Chris Brunt’s spot-kick.
Almunia felt the injury at the time but was examined during the interval and was happy to go on. Arsene gave the goalkeeper only a slim chance of playing against Chelsea and said on 30th September 2010, "That [Manuel's injury] is even more difficult. He
has not been in a regular training session. So I will see."
Manuel Almunia could be fit for the Birmingham clash but it would be unfair to Fabianski if he does not start in goal then. Fabianski deserves to wear gloves in the upcoming fixtures as the Polish shot stopper showed some extraordinary resistance against
Chelsea and without a doubt, he was just brilliant between the sticks.
-Emmanuel Frimpong
The Ivorian International injured his cruciate knee ligaments during the training session. He is sidelined for six to nine months. The talented midfielder figured heavily in the pre-season and according to ‘The Professor’, he was likely to see his first-team
action during the campaign.
"He has done his cruciate in training. That is a massive blow. A cartilage is three to four weeks but a cruciate like that one Frimpong did is six to nine months. I rate him highly and I still have a lot of faith in him but we will miss him for six to nine
months.”
