Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 admits using Twitter to connect with fans – English Premier League news
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted that he uses the social networking site Twitter in order to connect with the club supporters.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 and captain Cesc Fabregas also use Twitter regularly.
Wilshere, who has nearly 390,000 followers on his account, claims that the only reason he registered with the site was to get closer to the fans.
The youngster said, “I've got it [a Twitter account] really to get involved with the fans and get their opinions. It's helpful to know what they are thinking, the fans are the most important people at a football club and to know what they are thinking does
help us.”
He added, “There are negative and positive things, I've had negative things on there after a bad performance but that is helpful as well.”
Wilshere knows the repercussions well that can come from using such an open forum. The England international barely escaped prosecution from the Football Association for criticising referee Phil Dowd on his Twitter page following Arsenal’s 4-4 draw against
Newcastle United back in February 2011.
The midfielder was furious with the match official for sending off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998.
Wilshere had wrote, “Inconsistent refereeing needs to stop. It's killing the game. If Diaby goes, what's the difference between that and Nolan on our keeper?”
Wilshere has since been more cautious about what he reveals on his Twitter account. However, he claims that he still likes to share his opinions with his followers on a regular basis. He also went on to reveal that it was his captain Cesc Fabregas who initially
convinced him to sign up with the social media service.
Arsenal are currently in second place in the Premier League standings, 5 points behind leaders Manchester United. However, the Gunners still have a realistic shot of winning the title, especially since they have a game in hand over the Red Devils.
