Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 says yes to Pearce despite Wenger protest – Premier League news
Arsenal young prodigy Jack Wilshere has agreed to feature for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 Under-21 team at the European Championship in 2011 arguing that he would never say no to his country.
The Under-21 coach Stuart Pearce went ahead and booked the 19-year-old midfielder in the provisional 40-man squad despite obvious protest from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners’ boss argues that owing to the fact that his young player is already part of the senior side under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello, Wilshere should not be a part of the junior team. The Frenchman further added that in playing for club and the senior side, the
Arsenal number 19 may suffer from burnout. Wilshere has already played 52 games at the club and international level in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
However Wilshere, call it exuberance of youth or simply frustration after a fruitless season in the Barclays Premier League for the North London side, maintains that if he were selected for the junior side, he would definitely play. The central midfielder
was quick to add that the decision regarding his involvement on the football field was still down to Arsene Wenger, Fabio Capello and Stuart Pearce and he would honour his commitment to either party.
Wilshere is more than likely to make the cut for the final 23 in Pearce’s side along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 front man Andy Carroll, who many believed was another surprising call up as the duo are more than capable to be England regulars in Fabio Capello’s side.
Stuart Pearce, on the other hand, is more focused at having a competitive squad this time round after having the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 in 2009.
The Under-21 side coach commented, “I personally think the last squad that I took was extremely strong. I'm not sure this squad is as strong as that.”
Pearce further justified his decision and his faith in the junior format of the game as he concluded, “There are some great players who have been through the Under-21s and a mark of it probably is the fact that they've made that transition into the senior
team.”
