Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 urges team-mates to put the past behind them: Premier League news
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes that the Gunners will have to get over their disappointments in the ongoing 2010-2011 Barclays Premier League season if they are to have any chance at success in the next campaign.
Despite a promising start to the campaign, the Gunners look set to finish the season without any sort of silverware. It is the sixth successive year in which Arsenal have failed to win a single trophy, something which is unforgivable for a club with such
a pedigree. Arsenal’s downward spiral began with their Carling Cup final defeat to Birmingham City. It was a blow that the Gunners just could not recover from.
Following their Carling Cup exit, the Gunners were knocked out of the FA Cup and the Champions League in quick succession, leaving them with just the Premier League title to aim for. However, even that small glimmer of hope has been extinguished completely
with their recent string of draws. Arsene Wenger’s men are currently six points adrift of leaders Manchester United. With just three games of the season left to play, even the most optimistic of Gunners fans will have written of their chances of lifting the
League title.
Midfielder Jack Wilshere is understandably disappointed with the way his side collapsed this season, but he has urged his teammates to forget about what has happened and focus on what is coming next.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international believes that Arsenal have to put their recent disappointments behind them and concentrate on ending their trophy drought in the 2011-2012 Barclays Premier League campaign.
Speaking on the matter, Wilshere said, “We have to win something and we won't win if we keep thinking about those two weeks. It [the Carling Cup final defeat] was devastating, even now the boys still say 'we could have got a trophy there.”
"There was always the psychological feeling if we won that, it would give us the confidence to win more."
Arsenal are currently third in the Barclays Premier League standings with 67 points. Meanwhile, leaders Manchester United have 73 points so far in the season.
