Arsenal’s Jens Lehmann still optimistic of his side’s title chances: EPL News
Arsenal's goal-keeper, Jens Lehmann, has claimed there is still a chance that the Gunners can overtake the Manchester United in the race for the Premier League title.
Arsenal are currently in second place in the League standings, seven points behind the leaders, Manchester United. Crucially though, the Gunners have a game in hand over their arch-rivals. The two teams are set to clash once more before the end of the season.
The goal-keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jens-Lehmann-c18297, is optimistic that the Gunners can finally end their Premier League's title drought.
The German knows that it won’t be easy, but he believes that his side has the quality to pull it off. He claims that you can never be sure of anything in football. The legendary shot-stopper was pulled out of retirement to help his old team cope with their
crippling injury crisis. A move that no one would have believed possible a few weeks back.
Lehmann featured in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Blackpool at Bloomfield road on Sunday. It was his first start for the Gunners in almost 3 years, but the German coped with the pressure to help his side to a scrappy win.
He said, “I was quite surprised (that I got a chance to play) - I thought Manuel (Almunia) was playing and all of a sudden he picked up an injury. He [Wenger] told me I had to play. I couldn't really think about it. I couldn't afford to be nervous and I
just played."
The result proves Arsenal to keep up the pressure on League's leader, Manchester United, and if things go their way, they might just be in with a shot of going all the way to the title.
Speaking on his side’s chances, Lehmann said, “They are only four points ahead when we win our game in hand. Look at me - you never know what is going to happen in life. Manchester (United) is a good team but they have to play in a lot of competitions in
the next week.”
He added, "I know from my own experience how exhausting that can be."
It will be exciting to see how Arsenal draws a winning strategy with Manchester United and clinch the league's title.
