Arsenal’s Johan Djourou urges team to use draw with Liverpool as catalyst to beat Tottenham Hotpsur
Arsenal’s Swiss defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Djourou-c18779 feels that the Gunners should use their draw against Liverpool as fuel to aid their upcoming game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Following the 1-1 draw with Liverpool this past weekend, Arsenal are now six points behind league leaders Manchester United. However, now having played the same number of games as United, the team doesn’t have any games in hand to try and decrease the point
deficit.
As a result, the Arsenal squad is now well aware of the fact that only a win would do their dying title challenge any favours when they take on Tottenham. Having already lost to the Spurs by three goals to two, earlier in the season at the Emirates, it is
going to be no walk in the park for the team to pick up all three points.
When addressing the situation that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430 now find themselves in, Djourou is reported to have said, “The gap has grown a little bit now but we must keep going because you never know what can happen, starting at Tottenham”
The defender then turned his attention to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 game and seemed to have an idea as to just what went wrong for the team.
“It’s a shame about the Liverpool result. We thought we had it in the bag. We had so many chances to kill the game off but were unable to score,” he added.
The Swiss international then went on to mention that one of the main problems that the team had, was their home form, “Our home form is the issue. That’s three home draws in a row and we have to learn.”
However Djourou, just like the rest of the Arsenal squad still feels that something might yet come out of the season for the Gunners, as long as the team just keep fighting it out till the very end.
Djourou then ended by stating, “This team has a lot of quality and character, we just need to bounce back and keep fighting.”
It is no surprise that all Djourou is asking his teammates to do, is to stick together and try and do the best they can, since apart from that, there isn’t much the team can do at the moment.
As it stands, the league is now United’s to win, unless of course something goes drastically wrong for United and they end up drawing a majority of the last six games of the season. However, even if that is the case, Arsenal cannot afford anything less than
a win for the remainder of the season, if they are to end their six year trophy drought.
