The English Premier League leading goal scorer was pleased with transfer speculation linking him with Real Madrid but stated that Arsene Wenger will not let him leave.
Gonzalo Higuain’s likely departure from the Santiago Bernabeu has lead to speculations linking Arsenal forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380, with Spanish giants, Real Madrid. It has been reported that Higuain is unhappy with the playing time given to him and
wants to exit the Capital club in the summer.
With Higuain looking for first team action elsewhere, Jose Mourinho is reportedly on the lookout to add a capable replacement for the Argentine. Spanish media have reported that Mourinho fancies Van Persie as a likely replacement and has caught the
attention of the Portuguese tactician.
Van Persie has scored 22 goals in the current English Premier League season, two less than http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-c9622 Ronaldo’s haul in La Liga. With an expiring contract in the summer of 2013, the physical forward is a prime candidate to replace Higuain.
The Arsenal forward has himself hinted about a move to the Spanish capital, stating that it is an honour to be linked with such a high profile club. The Dutchman added that he is excited for a transfer to Real Madrid and is enthused at donning the
white jersey.
"I like to know the interest of such an important club like Real Madrid. Course I'm excited to play there," he said.
However, the Rotterdam born-player was unsure about the possibility of the move in the upcoming transfer window. Van Persie reflected that he has been with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 for the past eight years and the North London side would be unwilling to part company
with him.
"I do not think Arsenal agrees to negotiate," the Dutch international added.
A summer bid from Real Madrid has been touted for the prolific striker. With Van Persie celebrating his 29th birthday in August and a year left on his contract, a 30 million Euros bid would be sufficient to prize him away from
the Emirates stadium.
However, the player’s age looks to be a hindrance in the anticipated deal. With Real Madrid President Florentino looking to build a squad to play for years to come, Van Persie looks to be on the wrong side of the scale.
