http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s Theo Walcott impressed with Gervinho – Premier League Update
Arsenal winger and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755 and hopes for the forward to do great things for the Gunners in the future.
The Gunners went on to complete the signing of the forward from Lille, for a fee worth around £10.6 million. Making his debut for the club, the striker went on to face Cologne in a friendly. During the game, Gervinho was quite simply unstoppable. The forward went on to score two first half goals and then was taken off, to avoid any injuries. However, the Gunners went on to win the game via those two goals, as the final score read 2-1 in favour of Arsenal.
Walcott, when talking about Gervinho is quoted to have said: "Gervinho will be a breath of fresh air, I think. He looks a great talent.”
"You can tell he can bring goals, he has got plenty of pace about him and he is very comfortable on the ball. I am looking forward to playing with him."
Walcott then went on to state that the forward was more than likely to be put under the microscope due to his brilliant debut, however he then went on to state that he was confident that he would be able to overcome the critics via his performances.
Walcott then went on to add: "You don't want to put too much pressure on him but I am sure he can deal with that."
Gervinho has proven with Lille, that he has the recipe for success. The player was part of the Lille squad that went on to bag the league and cup double last season and during the course of the league, he went on to pick up fifteen goals.
Arsenal have been on the lookout for a forward, who can come into the side and try and shake things up. The team has relied on the talents of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 for a while now, however the Dutch international has picked up his fair share of injuries over the years and that has limited his contributions to the team.
Now with Gervinho amongst the mix, it seems like Arsenal have all the pace they could dream for, up front. The team have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 (if he stays), all of whom are highly skilful on the ball and have blistering pace.
Should Wenger be able to balance all the forwards properly, he might just be able to take Arsenal all the way, this time around.
