http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s Theo Walcott wants to play as a striker in the future – Premier League Update
Arsenal forward and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 has gone on to claim that he wishes to go back to playing as a striker in the near future.
The player when signed by Arsenal used to play as a striker, but had been transformed into a winger by Arsene Wenger. However, this transformation didn’t execute itself as brilliantly as most would have hoped, since despite having blistering pace and a keen
eye to get forward, Walcott often seems to be rather confused when left on the flanks.
The player seems to agree with these statements and is quoted to have said:
“I'm not a natural winger; I was bought as a striker.”
He then claimed that Arsenal are not a crossing team and hence it was a waste of his talents to be left on the flanks all the time.
“If you are on the flanks you have to make the runs anyway. You can't stay quiet on the wings and Arsenal are not the sort of team who will cross it anyway, we try and walk it into the net.”
Walcott strongly believes that he has the goalscoring ability and with the time he has spent on the pitch, he now possesses the experience to lead the team from the front.
“I am not demanding anything," said Walcott. "I will play anywhere for club and country. But hopefully if I keep on putting it out there with the manager, it will come. I would love it if it happens.”
The player wishes to play as a striker not only for Arsenal, but also for England and is hoping that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello and Arsenal will listen to these words that he has spoken and potentially try to change his role in both the teams.
It is rather amazing for Walcott to feel that he still has what it takes to play as a striker. The player possesses brilliant pace and can beat a player or two, but his touch, control and finishing just aren’t going to help him get the nod over much more
experienced strikers like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736. At the same time, the player is a little too small to really compete with defenders and he is more than likely to not win many aerial battles.
All in all, playing Walcott on the flanks is not only beneficial for the player, but also for the teas that he represents, since it helps them exploit his natural talent of being one of the quickest players in the game.
