Arsenal goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, has apologized to the fans for the team’s failed 2010/11 campaign. The youngster’s comments come in the wake of the club’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium last week.
That defeat to the struggling Aston Villa side has put the Gunners in real danger of losing their automatic ticket to the group stages of the Champions League. Fourth placed Manchester City are just two points behind Arsenal, with the added advantage of
a game in hand.
The London club’s current situation summarizes their entire season perfectly. Arsenal have just been unable to perform when it mattered most. The downward spiral started with their Carling Cup defeat to Birmingham City in the Carling Cup, followed by rapid
exits from both the Champions League and the FA Cup.
A string of draws near the tail end of the Barclays Premier League campaign allowed Manchester United to establish an insurmountable lead, leaving the Gunners staring down the barrel of yet another trophy less season.
There is a sense of anxiety and anger around Emirates Stadium, as fans are beginning to doubt the merits of their current crop of players. Arsenal’s defeat to Aston Villa in their final home game of the season resulted in the team being booed by their own
supporters.
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was understandably upset at the reaction of the home fans following that match, but he believes that the criticism was justified. Speaking on the matter, the Pole said, “I totally understand the frustration of the fans, and we
apologise for our lack of trophies this season. This is one of the biggest clubs in the world and we should be winning trophies every year."
He added, “We will have much more desire next season as we know how close we were this season to win the Carling Cup and Premier League. That gives us more motivation and desire to go for it next year, and obviously we will be one year more experienced compared
to what we were this year.”

http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are currently in third place in the Barclays Premier League standings with 67 points. FA Cup winners, Manchester City, are hot on their heels with 65 points.
